Herman Daniel appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 14 April 1930 at Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Viola Kelly Daniel, his son, Herman Daniel and William Daniel, his daughter, Ruth Daniel, Eva G Daniel and Hilda M Daniel, his mother-in-law, Viola Mitchell Kelly, his nephew, Calvin Vickerson, his neice, Katherine Vickerson, his sister-in-law, Pattie Kelly Vickerson. Andrew Burke Davis was born on 25 January 1961 at Norfolk, Virginia. He is the son of Donald Taylor Davis Sr and Helen Mae Saunders.1,2 Andrew Burke Davis was also known as Andy Davis.

In 1985,Andrew Burke Davis and Constance Murray Chappell lived at 9602 Greenmeadow Circle, Glen Allen, Henrico County, Virginia, 23060.2

Andrew Burke Davis married Constance Murray Chappell, daughter of John Robert Chappell III and Pattie Old Ribble, on 12 April 1986 at Richmond, Virginia. He was 25 at the time. A photocopy of their marriage licence, prior to marriage, from Henrico County Circuit Court, #406, issued April 8, 1986, is filed under Chappell, Constance M.2

Donald Taylor Davis Sr was born on 28 September 1931 at Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of William Featherston Davis Sr and Alice Lalime.1

Donald Taylor Davis Sr married Helen Mae Saunders on 29 December 1952. He was 21 at the time.1

When he was 24, his father, William Featherston Davis Sr, died on 29 September 1955 at Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 63.1

Donald Taylor Davis Sr married Mary (?) after 1962.

Donald Taylor Davis Sr died on 8 June 2011 at Pascagoula, Jackson County, Mississippi, at age 79. He suffered a severe stroke early on Sunday, June 5th, and never regained consiousness. Donald was survived by his wife, Mary Davis. Donald was survived by his children Donald Taylor Davis Jr, Valerie L Davis, Andrew Burke Davis.

On 9 June 2011, Donald's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Mississippi Press, Mississippi. It listed Mary Davis as surviving him.2

Donald Taylor "Don" Davis
, 79 of Moss Point, passed from this life quietly among family and friends on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in Pascagoula due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

He was retired from the United States Navy and served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of BPOE Lodge No. 1120 of Pascagoula and was a member of USSVI Tullibee Base of Mississippi (Submarine Veterans). He and his wife Mary owned and operated Pogo's Lounge in Moss Point.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Alice Davis from Lowell, MA; his brothers, Seward and Robert; and his beloved sister Dorothy.

He is survived his wife of forty-eight years, Mary E. Davis of Moss Point; sons, Donald T. Davis, Jr. and wife Elisabeth of Somerville, MA and Andrew B. Davis of Richmond, VA; daughter, Valerie L. Davis of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren, Isis, Rachel, Joshua, Thais and Tycho; brother, Bill Davis of Rittman, OH; long-time neighbors, Ron, Susan, Melissa and Sara Green who are treasured members of the Davis' extended "soul" family; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ruby Walters officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30pm from Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Moore, Mark Alexander, Terry Scott, Clark Word, Wayne Gordon and Kenny Lee White. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Dunn, Wyatt Dunn. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, Mississippi. An online register is available at www.holderwellsfuneralhome.com


He was buried on 13 June 2011, Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, aged 79.2

Joshua A. Davis appeared in the 1880 census as the head of household on 7 June 1880 at Portsmouth, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Laura L. B. Hutchings, his son, William Lee Davis Sr. He was listed as Joshua A. Davis, age 47, born in Virginia. His occupation was wheel wright.6

Joshua A. Davis died on 3 July 1899 at 431 Randolph St, Portsmouth, Virginia, at age 65 Died at 6:10 pm. He was buried after 3 July 1899 in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lot 514, Ave "E", space 9, located at 291 Peninsula Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia. Lauretta Tilledge Davis and Mary Eppes Davis appeared in the 1900 census as a daughter of William Lee Davis Sr in Portsmouth, Virginia, on 4 June 1900. She was listed as Lauretta T Davis, age 5, born May 1895 in Virginia.3

Lauretta Tilledge Davis, Mary Eppes Davis and Ruth Lee Davis appeared in the 1910 census as a daughter of William Lee Davis Sr on 23 April 1910 in 1025 North Street, Portsmouth, Virginia. She was listed as Laura T Davis, age 15, attending school.4

Lauretta Tilledge Davis, Ruth Lee Davis and Nancy Allen Davis appeared in the 1920 census as a daughter of William Lee Davis Sr on 10 January 1920 in 948 Naval Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia. She was listed as age 24, single. Her occupation was stenographer at the Naval Hospital.5

Lauretta Tilledge Davis married Dr. (Male) Woodward in 1939.1 Her married name was Laura T Davis Woodward.1

Lauretta Tilledge Davis died in March 1987 at Portsmouth, Virginia, at age 91.2
Laura T Davis Woodward had a copy of wedding invitation for Mary Shubrick Horry & Edward Mitchell Eppes (Sr) that was engraved as well as a family bible. Would like to see copy of Bible records added to The Library of Virginia.

Family information for her and her children obtained from Laura Davis obtained in late 70s to early 80s prior to her death. Laura Davis also had a family bible listing the information which Constance Davis saw. I do not know who has the Bible now.

Searched "The Times", Film 59, Va State Library, Sept 1891-Dec 1891, for a mention of her marriage, but I could not find it. "The Time" spans Oct 20, 1886 to Jan 25, 1903, a Richmond, VA, newspaper.

I need to search the Portsmouth/Newport News newspapers.

Leonard Henley Davis Sr and William Lee Davis Sr appeared in the 1870 census as a son of Joshua A. Davis Williamsburg, Virginia, 8 July 1870. He was listed as Leonard Davis, age 11, born in Virginia, attending school.2

Leonard Leslie Davis Sr. appeared in the 1900 census as a son of Leonard Henley Davis Sr in 431 Randolf Street, Portsmouth, Virginia, on 2 June 1900. He was listed as Leonard L Davis, age 18, single, born June 1881 in Virginia. His occupation was machinst apprentice.3

Leonard Leslie Davis Sr. and Leonard Henley Davis Jr appeared in the 1910 census as a son of Leonard Henley Davis Sr on 21 April 1910 in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was listed as Leslie L Davis, age 27, single, born in Virginia. His occupation was draftwman for the government.2

Leonard Leslie Davis Sr. married Jennie Carhart Sherwood, daughter of (Male) Sherwood and Mollie E (?), in 1926.4

He was described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and a ruddy complextion.1

Annie Helen Davis left a will 13 July 1956 at Portsmouth, Virginia, on 13 July 1956. Mentioned in the county documents were Leonard Leslie Davis Sr. and Bertha Helen Davis.5

Leonard Leslie Davis Sr. died on 24 February 1965 at Portsmouth, Virginia, at age 83.6 He was buried after 24 February 1965 in Oak Grove Cemetery in I-862, located at 291 Peninsula Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia.6

Susan A Davis was born in 1847 at Virginia.1 She was the daughter of Allen Davis and Lucretia E (?).1

Lucretia E (?), Benjamin A Davis, Joshua A. Davis, Lemuel T Davis, John W Davis, Thomas D Davis, Susan A Davis and Lucy A Davis appeared in the 1850 census on 29 July 1850 as a household member living with Allen Davis at James City County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. She was listed as Susan A. Davis, age 3, born in Virginia.2

Susan A Davis died.
