Herschell Austin Cashion Sr was born on 8 April 1912 at Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina.1,2,3 He was the son of George Stewart Cashion and Lonie Lowthorpe.2
     Herschell Austin Cashion Sr was listed as a nephew of William Lawthorn on the 1930 Census, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on 11 April 1930. He was listed as Herschell A Cashion, age 18, working as a laborer in furniture manufacturing, born in North Carolina.4

Herschell Austin Cashion Sr married Thelma Dallas Eppes, daughter of Temple Carter Eppes and Maude Gary.1,5

His Social Security Number was 246-07-3586 at North Carolina.3

His brother, Lloyd Edward Cashion, died on 13 November 1992 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 85 in a hospital as the result of an automobile accident.6,7

Survivors include this three sons, Herschell Austin Cashion Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Dallas, Texas, Donald Thomas Cashion, M.D. and his wife, Juliea, of Virginia Beach and Ronald Edward Cashion and his wife, Janet, of Alexandria; four grandchildren, James Herschell Cashion of Kansas City, Kansas, Anne Stuart Heckman of Vail, Colorado, Margaret Lee Cashion of Alexandria and Caroline Dallas Cashion of Virginia Beach; and his great-granddaughter, Hannah Jean Cashion Heckman of Vail, Colo.

He was a devoted husband and father.

He was also a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church.Mr. Cashion was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dallas Eppes Cashion.

Survivors include this three sons, Herschell Austin Cashion Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Dallas, Texas, Donald Thomas Cashion, M.D. and his wife, Juliea, of Virginia Beach and Ronald Edward Cashion and his wife, Janet, of Alexandria; four grandchildren, James Herschell Cashion of Kansas City, Kansas, Anne Stuart Heckman of Vail, Colorado, Margaret Lee Cashion of Alexandria and Caroline Dallas Cashion of Virginia Beach; and his great-granddaughter, Hannah Jean Cashion Heckman of Vail, Colo.

Virginia Beach - Donald Thomas Cashion, M.D., 67, A prominent Virginia Beach physician passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016, in his home in the North End where he lived for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia.

He is survived by his daughter, Caroline Dallas Cashion, and step-daughter, Alexandra Caroline Huffman; identical twin brother, Ronald Edward Cashion, and his wife, Janet Payne Cashion, and their daughter, Margaret Lee Cashion of Alexandria; and brother, Herschell A. Cashion, and his wife, Barbara of Dallas, TX; niece, Anne Cashion Heckman of Wolcott, Colorado, and nephew, James Cashion of Dallas, TX.

Born on October 11, 1948 to Thelma Dallas and Herschell A Cashion, Sr., and raised on Glendale Road in Hampton, VA. He attended Hampton High School, Class of 1966, graduated from Virginia Tech and The Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

He was a highly respected Emergency Physician/Trauma Specialist and was among the founding physicians of Emergency Physicians of Tidewater. In later years, he was a physician with Patient First Urgent Care. Dr. Cashion was a Board Certified Physician in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice and Geriatric Care.

His legacy of Love for God and family, The Commonwealth of Virginia, America, The South, beloved friends and acquaintances, Virginia Tech, Virginia Beach, and Tidewater. His academic and professional achievements will live on ...forever. May we all be humbled and honored by his devotion to God, family, patriotism and traditional American values, exemplified by his hard work and successes and through so many who loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Laskin Road Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach, 300 36th St., Virginia Beach, VA.

Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park on Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech. Lloyd Edward Cashion was born on 14 October 1907 at Iredell County, North Carolina.1 He was the son of George Stewart Cashion and Lonie Lowthorpe.1

Lloyd Edward Cashion married Virginia J (?)

Lloyd Edward Cashion died on 13 November 1992 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 85 in a hospital as the result of an automobile accident. Lloyd was survived by his wife, Virginia J (?)2,3

On 15 November 1992, Lloyd's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Newport News, Virginia. It listed Virginia J (?) and Herschell Austin Cashion Sr as surviving him Survivors include two daughters, Mary C. Silk of Newport News and Molly C. Suleske of Stafford, Va;10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.4

Lloyd's obituary read:
Lloyd E. Cashion, 85, of Newport News, died Nov. 13, 1992, in a hospital as the result of an automobile accident.

Mr. Cashion was born in Iredell County, N.C. He retired as captain of the Newport News Fire Department after 33 years. He had been retired for 22 years. He was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church, Stevens Bible Class, Warwick Masonic Lodge 336 AF & AM and the Peninsula Retired Men's Club.Survivors include his wife, Virginia J. Cashion; two daughters, Mary C. Silk of Newport News and Molly C. Suleske of Stafford, Va; a brother, Herschell A. Cashion of Newport News; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Deer Park Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary Burden and the Rev. Clarence Hilling. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park with Fire Department honors. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Youth Challenge, 331-35th St., Newport News, Va. 23607.

Verner Loudisie Lynch married John Coghill Eppes, son of John Ganaway Eppes and Maude Coghill, on 26 January 1916 at Richmond, Virginia.1,2 Her married name was Verner Loudisie Lynch Eppes.

Verner Loudisie Lynch appeared as the wife of John Coghill Eppes on John's World War 1 Draft registration card on 5 June 1917 at 320 North 27th Street, Richmond, Virginia. She was listed as a dependent wife; was a telegraph operator for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. He claimed a dependent wife. He was described as tall, medium build, grey eyes, with dark brown hair.2

Verner Loudisie Lynch died. She and John Coghill Eppes were divorced before 10 January 1936.3

Her husband, John E Eppes, was buried on 12 January 1936 in Hollywood Cemetery in Pavillion Lot 18 at 412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, Virginia, aged 43.4

Frances Ann Allen was born on 11 October 1864 at Henrico County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Joseph H Allen and Maria Lipscomb Garthright.

Frances Ann Allen and Alice C Allen appeared in the 1870 census as a daughter of Joseph H Allen Black Creek Township, New Kent County, Virginia, on 19 August 1870. She was listed as Fanny Allen, age 7, at home, born in Virginia; Joseph H Allen, age 35, born in Virginia. His occupation was lumber merchant. His real estate was valued at 45,000; and his personal property, at $5,000.1

Frances Ann Allen, Alice C Allen, Hester Allen and Lulu Allen appeared in the 1880 census as a daughter of Joseph H Allen on 24 June 1880 at Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. She was listed as Fanny A Allen, age 15, born in Virginia, at home, attending school; Joseph H Allen, age 45, born in Virginia. His occupation was farmer.2

Frances Ann Allen married Thomas Augustine Richardson on 19 May 1885. Her married name was Frances Ann Allen Richardson.

Her mother, Maria Lipscomb Garthright Allen, died in June 1908.

Frances Ann Allen died on 10 June 1944 at age 79. She was buried after 10 June 1944 in Westview Cemetery, located at 1680 Ralph David Abernathy SW, Atlanta, DeKalb County, Georgia.

Edward Mortimor Noble married Elizabeth T. Adkins, daughter of Spencer R Adkins and Elizabeth J Garthright, on 14 December 1870 at Richmond, Virginia. He was 19 at the time.

Edward Mortimor Noble appeared in the 1880 census as the head of household on 1 June 1880 at 529 24th Street, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Elizabeth T. Adkins, his son, Leslie H Noble, Everett Lee Noble, Luther Knox Noble and Ernest L Noble, his mother, Lucretia (?). He was listed as Edward M Noble, age 29, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was green grocer.1

Edward Mortimor Noble appeared in the 1900 census as the head of household on 2 June 1900 at Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Elizabeth T. Adkins, his son, Leslie H Noble, Ernest L Noble, Luther Knox Noble and Everett Lee Noble. He was listed as E. M. Noble, age 40, married, born May 1851 in Virginia. His occupation was merchant.3

Edward Mortimor Noble appeared in the 1910 census as the head of household on 20 April 1910 at 603 23rd Street, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Elizabeth T. Adkins, his son, Everett Lee Noble, Luther Knox Noble and Ernest L Noble. He was listed as Edward M Noble, age 59, married 38 years, born in Virginia. His occupation was inspector, health department.4

Edward Mortimor Noble appeared as the father of Everett Lee Noble on Everett's World War 1 Draft registration card on 12 September 1918 at 603 North 24th Street, Richmond, Virginia. He was listed as Edward Motmorye Noble, 603 N 24th Street, Richmond, Virginia; Everett Lee Noble, age 44, born 29 Jan 1874. His occupation was brick contractor, self-employed. He was described as of medium height, medium build, grey eyes, and brown hair.5

Edward Mortimor Noble appeared in the 1920 census as the head of household on 1920 at 603 North 23rd St, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Elizabeth T. Adkins, his son, Everett Lee Noble and Luther Knox Noble, his daughter-in-law, Pearl (?), his grandson, Everett L Noble. He was listed as Edward M Noble, age 68, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was food inspector, city limits.6

Edward Mortimor Noble died in October 1920 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 69. Edward was survived by his wife, Elizabeth T. Adkins. Edward was survived by his children, Leslie H Noble, Everett Lee Noble, Luther Knox Noble and Ernest L Noble.

His wife, Elizabeth S Adkins Noble, was buried after 12 April 1928 in Oakwood Cemetery at 3101 Nine Mile Rd, Richmond, Virginia.

Caroline Francis Scully married Edward Finch Garthright Jr, son of Carter Garthright and Elizabeth Binford Warriner, on 4 December 1856 at Henrico County, Virginia. Her married name was Caroline Francis Scully Garthright.

Henrietta Annies Garthright, Fielding Garthright, Caroline Francis Scully Garthright, Laura Frances Garthright, Thomas Jefferson Garthright and Everette H Garthright appeared in the 1860 census on 19 July 1860 as a household member living with Edward Finch Garthright Jr at Henrico County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1860. She was listed as Caroline F Gathright, age 27; Ed F Gathright, Jr, age 40, farmer. His real estate was worth $2,000; his personal estate, $3,000.1

Edward Finch Garthright Jr left a will 7 October 1869 and mentioned Caroline Francis Scully.2 The probate document read as follows:
Accounts dated beginning in 7 Oct 1869 for the settlement of the estate of Edward F. Garthright, Jr, by his administrator Caroline F Garthright, wife. Final settlement 18 Sept 1870. Balance due estate $232.86 1/2 after debts of $13.18 paid.

Mentions J. W. Garthright, Oliver Garthright.

Coffin made for $8.50 on 8 Jan 1867. Sheriff taxes due for 1866, 1867, 1868 and paid by the estate.

John Carter Garthright married Minnie Johnson Potter on 8 June 1893. He was 28 at the time.

John Carter Garthright appeared in the 1900 census as the head of household on 4 June 1900 at Varina, Henrico County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Minnie Johnson Potter, his son, Paul Garthright, his daughter, Laura C Garthright, Ame Potter Garthright and Esther Cordelia Garthright. He was listed as John Garthright, age 65, married, born Dec 1834 in Virginia. He had been married 7 years. His occupation was farmer.2

John Carter Garthright appeared in the 1910 census as the head of household on 15 April 1910 at Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Minnie Johnson Potter, his son, Paul Garthright and Carter O Garthright, his daughter, Laura C Garthright, Ame Potter Garthright, Esther Cordelia Garthright, Janie Lee Garthright and Jessie Frances Garthright. He was listed as John C Gathright, age 46, married once for 17 years, born in Virginia. His occupation was time keeper in a factory.3

John Carter Garthright appeared in the 1920 census as the head of household on 12 January 1920 at Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Minnie Johnson Potter Garthright, his son, Willis Garthright, his daughter, Esther Cordelia Garthright, Janie Lee Garthright, Jessie Frances Garthright and Carey Garthright. He was listed as John C Garthright, age 54, married, born in Virginia. He owned his home. He worked as an office clerk.4

His daughter, Esther Cordelia Garthright, died on 28 April 1920 at age 22.5

His wife, Minnie Johnson Potter Garthright, was buried after 24 April 1928 in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 4000 Pilots Lane, Henrico, Henrico County, Virginia.6

John Carter Garthright appeared in the 1930 census as the father-in-law of Hiram Robert Sanders Sr Henrico County, Virginia, on 30 April 1930. He was listed as John C Garthright, age 66, widowed, born in Virginia. His occupation was laborer on a dairy farm ; Hiram R. Sanders, age 37, married, born in Virginia, as were his parents. He was 26 when he first married. He owned his home. His occupation was dairy farmer.7

John Carter Garthright died on 21 July 1932 at age 67. He was buried after 21 July 1932 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 4000 Pilots Lane, Henrico, Henrico County, Virginia.

Robert Hunter Garthright, Edward Finch Garthright and John Carter Garthright appeared in the 1880 census as a son of Caroline Francis Scully Garthright on 9 June 1880 at Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. He was listed as Edward Garthright, age 20, single, farmer ; Caroline Garthright, age 47, widowed, born in Virginia as were her parents, keeping house.1 Edward Finch Garthright wrote his last will on 24 November 1890.2

Edward Finch Garthright died before 11 May 1891 at Virginia.

After Edward Finch Garthright died, his estate went through probate on 11 May 1891 at Henrico County, Virginia. Mentioned in the county documents was Caroline Francis Scully Garthright.2 The probate document read as follows:

Laura Frances Garthright was born in April 1851 at Elko, Henrico County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Edward Finch Garthright Jr and Hester Ann Woodfin.

Henrietta Annies Garthright, Fielding Garthright, Caroline Francis Scully Garthright, Laura Frances Garthright, Thomas Jefferson Garthright and Everette H Garthright appeared in the 1860 census on 19 July 1860 as a household member living with Edward Finch Garthright Jr at Henrico County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1860. She was listed as Laura F Gathright, age 9; Ed F Gathright, Jr, age 40, farmer. His real estate was worth $2,000; his personal estate, $3,000.1

Laura Frances Garthright died on 18 October 1869 at age 18.
