Charles Merriwether Fry married Elizabeth Wickham Leigh, daughter of Benjamin Watkins Leigh and Julia Wickham, on 15 July 1846.1

Charles Merriwether Fry appeared in the 1850 census as the head of household, free population schedule at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, on 24 July 1850. Also living in the house was Elizabeth Wickham Leigh and Chapman Johnson Leigh. He was listed as Charles M Fry, age 28, merchant, born in Virginia.3 Charles Merriwether Fry applied for a passport on 20 April 1857 at New York, New York County, New York. He was described as 35 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, high forehead, brown eyes, long nose, medium mouth, narrow chin, ruddy complexion, and a long face.2

Charles Merriwether Fry was listed as the head of household on the 1871 census on 16 January 1871 at New York, New York County, New York. Also living in the house was his wife, Elizabeth Wickham Leigh Julia Wickham and Alice Leigh. He was listed as Charles M. Fry, age 48, merchant, born in Virginia.4

Mitchell Fussell married Hester Ann Garthright, daughter of Edward Finch Garthright Sr and Frances Carter, on 5 June 1843 at Henrico County, Virginia.2

Mitchell Fussell appeared in the 1850 census as the head of household, free population schedule at Henrico County, Virginia, on 2 October 1850. Also living in the house was Hester Ann Garthright, James M Fussell, Henrietta Fussell, Mary Ellen Fussell and Madison C Fussell. He was listed as Mitchell Fussell, age 33, carpenter, born in Virginia. His real estate was valued at $1,200.

Located right next door was a John W. Fussell, Baptist minister and farmer, age 49, and his family. Were they related?3

Mitchell Fussell appeared in the 1860 census as the head of household, free population schedule on 16 June 1860 Henrico County, Virginia. Also living in the house was Hester Ann Garthright, Henrietta Fussell, James M Fussell, Mary Ellen Fussell, John E Fussell, Fannie E Fussell and Madison C Fussell. Mitchell Fussell was listed as the head of household on the 1870 census on 1870 at Varina, Henrico County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Hester Ann Garthright, his son, John E Fussell and James M Fussell, his daughter, Mary Ellen Fussell. He was listed as Mitchell Fussell, age 53, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $1,100, and his personal property, at $400.

Right next door was a Garthright family. Were they related to Hester?5

Margaret Eleanor Gaines married Edward Mitchell Eppes Jr, son of Edward Mitchell Eppes Sr and Mary Shubrick Horry, on 15 October 1921 at Grace Street Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia. She was 19 at the time. They were married by the Rev. W. W. Weeks, DD. As of 15 October 1921, her married name was Margaret Eleanor Gaines Eppes. Margaret Eleanor Gaines was also known as Eleanor Eppes. She was described as having diabetes, which caused her to become blind.

Margaret Eleanor Gaines Eppes died on 26 September 1963 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 61. Margaret was survived by her husband, Edward Mitchell Eppes Jr, Edward Mitchell Eppes III.1 She was buried after 26 September 1963 in Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 4000 Pilots Lane, Henrico, Henrico County, Virginia.1

Her husband, Edward Mitchell Eppes Jr, was buried on 19 March 1985 in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 4000 Pilots Lane, Henrico, Henrico County, Virginia, aged 85.2,3,4

After Edward Finch Garthright Sr died, his estate went through probate on 11 August 1884 at Henrico County, Virginia.17

Probate continued for the estate of Edward Finch Garthright Sr on 17 November 1884 at Henrico County, Virginia. An inventory of his personal items were entered into the court records.16 The probate document read as follows:
County of Henrico to wit: This day personally appeared before me the undersigned a Justice of the peace for the county of Henrico, Oliver Garthright, Thomas R. Howl and William T. Chadick three of the appriasers appointed by the County Court of Henrico to appraise the estate of the late Edward F. Garthright Decd. and made oath that they would truly and justly and to the best of their judgment, view and appraise the goods and chattels of the said Edward F. Garthright decd which shall be produced or shown to them for their appraisement. Given under my hand this 17 of Nov 1884.

"Atkins, Spencer R., to Elizabeth J. Garthright, daughter of Edward E. Garthright. Edward F. Garthright, surety. 21 Dec 1837."1 Her married name was Elizabeth J Garthright Adkins.1

Elizabeth J Garthright, Edward C. Adkins, Julia F. Adkins, Nancy Adkins and Elizabeth T. Adkins appeared in the 1850 census on 9 August 1850 as a household member living with Spencer R Adkins. The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. She was listed as Elizabeth Adkins, age 32, born in Virginia.2

Her mother, Frances Carter Garthright, died on 26 December 1862.

Elizabeth J Garthright died.

Edward Finch Garthright Sr left a will 15 May 1885 and mentioned as deceased, Elizabeth J Garthright Adkins, Sarah Garthright Pollard and John Garthright, his daughter. Elizabeth Atkins had one surviving son and three married daughters that received a portion of the estate, about $19.01 each.3

The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. She was listed as Hester Ann Fussell, age 28, born in Virginia.3

Edward Finch Garthright Sr left a will 15 May 1885 on 15 May 1885. Mentioned in the county documents were William Dandridge Garthright, Hester Ann Garthright, Nancy Carter Garthright, Mary C. Garthright, Maria Lipscomb Garthright, Edward C. Adkins, Elizabeth T. Adkins, Nancy Adkins, Julia F. Adkins, Richard C Pollard Jr, Fielding Pollard, Pleasant Pollard, Charles W Pollard, Edward F Pollard, Frances W Pollard, Ann E Pollard, John Garthright and (Female) Garthright, his daughter. Hester Fussell received $76.05 for her share of his estate.6

James M Garthright, Leslie Garthright and Joseph Garthright appeared in the 1880 census as a son of William Dandridge Garthright on 23 June 1880 at Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. He was listed as James Garthright, age 12, at school.1

James M Garthright married Rebecca A (?).

James M Garthright appeared in the 1910 census as the head of household on 16 April 1910 at 2515 Twenty-Fifth Street, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Rebecca A (?), his daughter, Hazel K Garthright and Nellie C Garthright. He was listed as James M Garthright, age 41, married 16 years, born in Virginia. His occupation was foreman.2

James M Garthright appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 8 April 1930 at Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Rebecca A (?). He was listed as James W Garthright, age 61, born in Virginia. He was 25 when he first married. His occupation was sheet metal contractor.3

James M Garthright died.

Laura C Garthright, Ame Potter Garthright, Esther Cordelia Garthright, Janie Lee Garthright and Jessie Frances Garthright appeared in the 1910 census as a daughter of John Carter Garthright on 15 April 1910 in Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. She was listed as Janie Gathright, age 5, born in Virginia.1

Esther Cordelia Garthright, Janie Lee Garthright, Jessie Frances Garthright and Carey Garthright appeared in the 1920 census as a daughter of John Carter Garthright on 12 January 1920 in Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia. She was listed as Janie L Garthright, age 14, born in Virginia, attending school.2

Janie Lee Garthright married Burton Christian Robinson on 16 October 1925. Her married name was Janie Lee Garthright Robinson.

Janie Lee Garthright appeared in the 1930 census as the wife of Burton Christian Robinson Fairfield, Henrico County, Virginia, on 18 April 1930. She was listed as Janie G Johnson, age 25, married, born in Virginia. She was 20 when she first married.3

Janie Lee Garthright Robinson died on 19 February 1995 at age 90.

John Garthright died before 18 January 1861 at Virginia. John was survived by his children, John Garthright.

After John Garthright died, his estate went through probate on 18 January 1861 at Henrico County, Virginia. People buying items from the estate included: Edward F. Garthright, Jno. W. Garthright, C. Atkins, M. Allen, Ro. Pollard.2

Probate continued for the estate of John Garthright on 31 January 1862 at Henrico County, Virginia. An inventory of the estate was performed by Edward Finch Garthright Sr.3

His mother, Frances Carter Garthright, died on 26 December 1862.

Edward Finch Garthright Sr left a will 15 May 1885 and mentioned as deceased, Elizabeth J Garthright Adkins, Sarah Garthright Pollard and John Garthright, his son. John Garthright had one surviving son and one married daughter that received a portion of the estate, about $25.35 each.4
Found several John Gathrights in 1850 census, some too young to be him. Those found are:

1850 US Census, Henrico County, VA, Household #747. Enumerated together were: John Gathright (31M), Lucy Gathright (32F), John R. Gathright (7M), Maria E Gathright (5F), Samuel F Gathright (3M), Ann H Gathright (1-2/12F), Maria Bullington (70F).

1850 US Census, Henrico County, VA, Household #925. Enumerated together were: John C. Gathright (26M), Ellen Gathright (25F), Adoneram (5M).

Henrico County, VA, Will Book 17, p. 144, Sale of property of John C. Garthright, decd, 18 Jan 1861. People buying items from the estate included: Edward F. Garthright, Jno. W. Garthright, C. Atkins, M. Allen, Ro. Pollard.
