John V Hardenbergh Jr, Charles DePew Hardenbergh and Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr appeared in the 1900 census as a son of John V. Hardenbergh in Cuckoo, Louisa County, Virginia, on 5 June 1900. He was listed as Chas. Hardenberg, age 16, born Mar 1884 in Virginia, attending school ; John Hardenburg, age 58, married, born Apr 1842. He was 23 when they first married. He was born in New York as well as both parents. His occupation was farmer.4

Charles DePew Hardenbergh married Blanche H. (?) in 1907.1,2
     Charles DePew Hardenbergh and Blanche H. Hardenbergh was listed as a lodger of Eva M. Thomas on the 1910 Census 424 North 10th Street, Richmond, Virginia, on 20 April 1910. Charles Hardenburgh, age 27, married once. He had been married 3 years. His occupation was bookkeeper for a grains house.1

Charles DePew Hardenbergh registered for the World War 1 Draft on 12 September 1918 while living at 2234 W. Grace Street, Richmond, Virginia. His nearest relative was his wife, Blanche H. (?). He was listed as Charles DePew Hardenburg, age 35, born 12 Apr 1883. His occupation was manager at Brown & Kaster at 1208 E. Cary St, Richmond, VA. Nearest Relative: Mrs. Blanche H. Hardenburg, wife, living at 2234 W. Grace St, Richmond, VA. He was of meduim height, medium build, brown eyes, and light hair.5

Epps, age 51, born in Virginia. He was renting his home. His occupation was manufactuerer of books.2

Charles DePew Hardenbergh appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 3 April 1930 at 110 North Boulevard Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Blanche H. Hardenbergh. He was listed as Charles Hardenburg.

John V. Hardenbergh appeared in the 1880 census as the head of household on 15 June 1880 at Orange County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Mary A. (?), his daughter, Elizabeth C Hardenbergh and Sarah A. Hardenbergh. He was listed as J. V. Hardenburg, age 38, married, born in Philadelphia. His occupation is farmer.1

John V. Hardenbergh appeared in the 1900 census as the head of household on 5 June 1900 at Cuckoo, Louisa County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Mary A. (?), his son, John V Hardenbergh Jr, Charles DePew Hardenbergh and Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr, his daughter, Elizabeth C Hardenbergh and Sarah A. Hardenbergh. He was listed as John Hardenburg, age 58, married, born Apr 1842. He was 23 when they first married. He was born in New York as well as both parents. His occupation was farmer.2

His wife, Mary A. (?), died before 1920 as her husband was listed as widowed in the 1920 census.

John V. Hardenbergh appeared in the 1920 census as the father of Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr on 15 January 1920 in Cuckoo, Louisa County, Virginia. He was listed as John B Hardenberg, age 82, widowed, born in New York. Both of his parents were also born in New York ; Henry H Hardenbergh, age 34, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was farmer, own farm.3

John V. Hardenbergh died before 1930. This is assumed because he was not listed with his son Henry Jr in the 1930 census and he was living with Henry Jr in the 1920 census. John was survived by his children, Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr.

John V Hardenbergh Jr, Charles DePew Hardenbergh and Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr appeared in the 1900 census as a son of John V. Hardenbergh in Cuckoo, Louisa County, Virginia, on 5 June 1900. He was listed as Henry H. Hardenberg, age 14, born Apr 1886 in Virginia, attending school ; John Hardenburg, age 58, married, born Apr 1842. He was 23 when they first married. He was born in New York as well as both parents. His occupation was farmer.3

Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr married Marion Charlton Brand, daughter of Charles A Brand and Mildred Early Murray, on 23 January 1917. He was 31 at the time.4,2

Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr appeared in the 1920 census as the head of household on 15 January 1920 at Cuckoo, Louisa County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Marion Charlton Brand, his son, Henry Hall Hardenbergh Jr, his daughter, Mildred A Hardenbergh, his father, John V. He was listed as Henry H. Hardenburg, age 45, born in Virginia, married. He was 33 when he first married. His father was born in New York, and his mother, in Pennsylvania. His occupation was farmer. He owned his home.2

Henry Hall Hardenbergh Sr registered for the World War 2 Draft on 27 April 1942 while living in Fredericks Hall, Louisa County, Virginia. He was listed as Henry Hall Hardengerg, age 57, born 16 Mar 1886 in Louisa, Virginia. He was self-employed. He was described as 5 ft 11 inches tall, 175 pounds, with blue eyes, blonde hair, and light complexion.1

BRAND HARDENBERGH

HARDENBERGH, Brand, of Tappahannock, Va., was found deceased of natural causes on Wednesday, February 26, 2012. He was born on April 15, 1928 in Richmond, Va., son of the late Henry Hall Hardenbergh and Marian Charlton Brand Hardenbergh.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at 17, serving during the last days of World War II. He was called back to service during the Korean War, serving a total of six years as an electrician, including service aboard the U.S.S. Witek and the U.S.S. Tawakoni.

He was honorably discharged in 1951, and his decorations included The Good Conduct Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, W.W.II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Brand graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he completed his studies in December 1957.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lafayette Amos Hardenbergh; his stepson, Clyde Y. Cridlin and wife, Linda; his nephew, Carter L. Hardenbergh; and wife, Melissa and family; his niece, Frances Batte Hardenbergh; and his great-nephew, Charles VanEvera Hardenbergh and wife, Mari. He was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Hall Hardenbergh Jr; his sister, Maxine Atmore Hardenbergh; and his nephew, Henry Hall Hardenbergh III.

Brand grew up at Frederick's Hall in Louisa County, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was blessed with a quick wit, a unique sense of humor, and always had a sparkle in his eye. He was a skilled mechanic, and he was fond of working on his cars and boats as he was of driving and spending time at sea. He was a devoted Christian who loved and served the Lord and his fellow man.

Services will be held at the Rappahannock Christian Church in Dunnsville on Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m.

On 9 June 1900, Paul Edward Seabrook Sr. appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of Kate Small in Effingham County, Georgia; Kate ? Seabrook, age 45, widowed, born Jun 1854 in South Carolina. She had had 2 children, both still living.4

Also living in the house was his wife, Harriett R. (?), his son, Paul Edward Seabrook Jr., his daughter, Margaret H. Seabrook and Harriett R. Seabrook, his sister, Adaline G. Seabrook. He was listed as Paul Seabrook, age 54, married, born in South Carolina. He owned his home. His occupation was lawyer in law office.6

Paul Edward Seabrook Sr. appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 7 April 1930 at Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. Also living in the house was his wife, Harriett R.
