Ella Francis Talley married David Wesley Poole, son of Frank W Poole, in 1887.4,2 Ella Francis Talley was also known as Mary Poole. Her married name was Ella Francis Talley Poole.4

Mary Estelle Wray was listed as a granddaughter of David Wesley Poole on the 1930 Census Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 16 April 1930. She was listed as Mary E Ray, age 6; David W Poole, owner of his home, age 66, born in Virginia, farmer. He was 23 when they married.1 Her married name was Mary Estelle Wray Humphreys.

Mary Estelle Wray married Russell Lowell Humphreys.

Mary Estelle Wray was listed as a step daughter of Otho William Chappell on the 1940 Census at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 22 April 1940. William Kenneth Chappell was born on 11 September 1936.1 He was the son of Otho William Chappell and Clara Louise Poole.

William Kenneth Chappell appeared in the 1940 census as a son of Otho William Chappell at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 22 April 1940. He was listed as William K Chappel, age 3, born in Virginia ; Otho Chappel, age 29, married, born in Virginia. He had completed 7 years of school. He was a laborer at a pulp mill.2

William Kenneth Chappell married Rebecca Ross Rideout.

Alice Louise Chappell Poole held a reunion on 5 August 1962 at Old Hickory, Sussex County, Virginia, and he attended.3

When he was 48, his mother, Clair Louise Poole Chappell, died on 3 October 1984 at Jarratt, Greensville County, Virginia, at age 81.4,5

When he was 64, his father, Otho William Chappell, died on 17 May 2001 at Emporia, Virginia, at age 90.6,7

In 2007,William Kenneth Chappell lived at 2808 Eagle Rock Rd, Petersburg, Virginia, 23805.

William Kenneth Chappell died on 28 May 2013 at age 76.1

On 30 May 2013, William's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond, Virginia.8

CHAPPELL, William Kenneth, 76, of Petersburg, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rideout Chappell; son, Kenneth R. "Kenny" Chappell and wife, Sherry, of Carson; daughter, Robin Rebecca Chappell of Petersburg; three grandchildren, Adam Chappell, Jackson Chappell and Blake Holdsworth; a great-granddaughter, Kaylyn Holdsworth; and sister-in-law, Nellie Wray. Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by sister, Estelle Humphreys; and brother, Joe Wray. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Va. 23867. The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concord United Methodist Church or Gary's United Methodist Church, Old Hickory Volunteer Fire Department or the Carson Volunteer Fire Department. Dora J Mitchell was born in May 1844 at Virginia or 1846. She was the daughter of Abraham Green Mitchell and Eveline S A Jarrett.

Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell, Emmett Mitchell, Dora J Mitchell, Edgar Mitchell, Purline Mitchell, John W. Mitchell and Martha A (?) appeared in the 1850 census on 17 August 1850 as a household member living with Abraham Green Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. She was listed as Dora J Mitchell, age 3, born in Virginia; Abram. G Mitchell, age 38, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $1,800.1

On 26 July 1860, Dora J Mitchell and William Mitchell appeared in the 1860 Census as a neighbor of Abraham Green Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. She was listed as Dora J Mitchell, age 14, attending school; Abraham G Mitchell, age 48, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $7,000; his personal property, $17,914.2

Dora J Mitchell married William H. Mitchell, son of William Mitchell and Lucy Minor Dillard, before 4 August 1870. Her married name was Dora J Mitchell Mitchell.

The official date for this census was 01 June 1870. She was listed as Dora J Mitchell, age 23, keeping house, born in Virginia; William H Mitchell, age 29, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $2,600; his personal property, $260.3

Dora J Mitchell appeared in the 1880 census as the wife of William H. Mitchell on 17 June 1880 at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Dora P (or J) Mitchel, age 32, born in Virginia, married, house keeper; William Mitchel, age 36, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was farmer.4

William H. Mitchell and Dora J Mitchell was listed as the parent of Emroy Temperance Mitchell when she married John Robert Chappell Sr on 13 February 1896 at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, 23882, 36.893531,-77.571008G. She was listed as Dora J. Mitchell; The license was taken out on Feb 8, 1896 for John R. Chappell and Emma Mitchell. Time of marriage: Feb 13, 1896, Sussex County. Age of Husband: 22. Age of Wife: 20. Both single. Places of birth and residence: Sussex County. Occupation of husband: Farmer. Minister: C. W. Turner, at Concord Church.5

Her husband, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900 as his wife was listed as widowed on the 1900 census.

On 15 June 1900, Dora J Mitchell, Susan Bolling Stewart, Susan G.P. Bolling and Charles Randolph Stewart appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of John Robert Chappell Sr in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Dora J. Mitchell. She was listed next on the census; John R Mitchell, age 26, born Sept 1873 in Virginia. He had been married for 4 years. His occupation was farmer.6 [His last name was totally incorrect but I am sure this is him and his family.]

On 16 June 1900, Charles Randolph Stewart, Susan G P Bolling Stewart, Dora J Mitchell and John Robert Chappell Sr appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of Susan (Nannie) Bolling Stewart Chappell in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Dora Mitchell, on the preceeding page; Nanny B Chappell, born July 1853 in Virginia, age 41, widowed. She was listed being the mother of nine children, with all still living. Her occupation was farmer.7

On 16 June 1900, Susan G.P. Bolling, Susan Bolling Stewart, Dora J Mitchell and John Robert Chappell Sr appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of Charles Randolph Stewart in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia; Charles Stewart, age 37, born May 1863 in Virginia. He had been married 4 years. His occupation was farm laborer.8

On 16 June 1900, Charles Randolph Stewart, Susan Bolling Stewart and Dora J Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of Susan G P Bolling Stewart in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia; Susan Stewart, age 73, born May 1827 in Virginia, widowed. She was listed as having had 5 children, with 5 still living. Her occupation was farmer.9

Dora J Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as the head of household on 16 June 1900 at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. Also living in the house was, her son, William Green Mitchell and James Edward Mitchell, her daughter, Annie Louise Mitchell. Susan Bolling Stewart, John Robert Chappell Sr, Charles Randolph Stewart and Susan G.P. Bolling was listed as a neighbor. She was listed as Dora Mitchell, age 53, widowed, born May 1847 in Virginia, farmer. She has had 8 children, with 6 still living.10

Abraham Green Mitchell was born in 1812 at Virginia or 1807.3 He was the son of Abraham Mitchell and Rebecca Hawthorne.1,2 Abraham Green Mitchell was also known as Henry Green Mitchell I don't know where this variant of his name came from, but it may have been word of mouth.

His father, Abraham Mitchell, died in 1834 at Dinwiddie County, Virginia.1 Susan H. (?), Rebecca A. Chappell, Mary E. Chappell, John Thomas A. Chappell and Abraham Green Mitchell was involved in probating of the estate of John W. Chappell in November 1839 at Sussex County, Virginia. He was named the guardian of the infant children of John W. Chappell. The papers were recorded on 3 Dec 1846.4

Abraham Green Mitchell married Eveline S A Jarrett before 1844 at Virginia. based on her age in the 1870 census.5

Abraham Green Mitchell was listed as a guardian of the minor children in the deed recorded 3 December 1846 at Sussex County, Virginia, from Susan H Chappell to John Thomas A. Chappell, Rebecca A. Chappell and Richard J Tucker. He was the guardian of John Thomas A. Chappell, Rebecca A. Chappell and Richard J Tucker, children of John W. Chappell, deceased. There was a valuation of the slaves for a total of $2650, allotting to Susan H Chappell, $883.33 one-third, her third of the negroes.6 The deed read as follows:
Suit brought in Sussex County Chancery Court, Nov. Term 1839 between the plantiff Susan H. Chappell widow of John W Chappell in her own right and as administratrix of the said John W. Chappell decd, plantiff against Rebecca A (or S) P. Mary E. and John T. A. Chappell infant children of John W. Chappell deceased by A. G. Mitchell their Guardian at litem appointed by the Court to defend them in this behalf defendants.

The Court appointed Abraham G. Mitchell Guardian ad litem specially to defend the infant defendants. William C. Pace, Joseph, Jarrad, Edwin G Scott, William B. Jarrad, and Micajah Ellis were appointed Commissioners, any three of whom may act, on some convenient day to be appointed by the parties, meet at the late residence of John W. Chappell deceased accompanied by the County Surveyor and value and divide the lands of which said decedent died owning so that they allot one-third part to Susan H. Chappell widow, in right of her dower, and the same with the slaves.

The slaves were valued at $2650, Susan was allotted $883.33 1/3 by Joseph Jarrad, William Pace and W B Jarrad.

Jarrett Mitchell, Emmett Mitchell, Dora J Mitchell, Edgar Mitchell, Purline Mitchell, John W. Mitchell and Martha A (?). He was listed as Abram. G Mitchell, age 38, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $1,800.8 Abraham Green Mitchell and Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell of Dinwiddie County, Virginia transferred a deed of property dated 4 March 1852 to Susan H. (?) of Sussex County, Virginia, containing 402.5 acres of land in Sussex County, Virginia, for $7,898. It was recorded 4 Mar 1852.9 The deed read as follows:
This deed on 8th day of March 1851 from Abram. G. Mitchell and
Eveline S. A. Mitchell his wife of the County of Dinwiddie

To: Susan Chappell of the county of Sussex for $898 paid by Susan Chappell for 402.5 acres (more or less) in Sussex County bounded as follows:

"On the North by the lands of Edward A. Wyatt, on the East by the lands of Stephen P Pool, on the South by the lands of Charles E. Coghill, On the West by the lands of said Coghill.

Abraham Green Mitchell was listed as the head of household on the 1870 census on 4 August 1870 at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Also living in the house was Emaline S. A. However, I have taken his birthdate from his World War 1 Draft application.1 He was the son of William H. Mitchell and Dora J Mitchell. James Edward Mitchell was also known as Jimmy Mitchell.

His father, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900 as his wife was listed as widowed on the 1900 census.

William Green Mitchell and James Edward Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as a son of Dora J Mitchell in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 16 June 1900. He was listed as James E Mitchell, age 12, born March 1888 in Virginia, attending school ; Dora Mitchell, age 53, widowed, born May 1847 in Virginia, farmer. She has had 8 children, with 6 still living.2

Margaret Marie Chappell was born on 28 December 1920 at Jarratt, Greensville County, Virginia.1,2 She was the daughter of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. and Ocie Dillard Poole. Margaret Marie Chappell was also known as Margie Chappell. She was baptized in 1924 at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, 23882, 36.893531,-77.571008G.

Margaret Marie Chappell appeared in the 1930 census as a daughter of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. Belfield, Greensville County, Virginia, on 21 April 1930. She was listed as Marie Chappell, age 9, born in Virginia, attending school; Willie A. Chappell (Sr), age 32, born in Virgina. He was 22 when he first married. His occupation was farmer, general farming.3 As of 10 October 1939, her married name was Gatling.

Margaret Marie Chappell married C. S. Gatling, son of J. P. Gatling Sr. and Nannie Curtie Martin, on 10 October 1939 at Jarratt, Greensville County, Virginia. She was 18 at the time.

Her Social Security Number was 228-30-1563 issued before 1951 at Virginia.2 Margaret Marie Chappell and C. S. Gatling were divorced in October 1970 at Virginia.

Margaret Marie Chappell married James R. Topping, son of Parker Bennet Topping Sr and Hattie Sue Carpenter, in 1971. Her married name was Margaret Marie Chappell Topping.

Her brother, Joseph Henry Chappell, died on 3 May 1972 at Petersburg General Hospital, Petersburg, Virginia, at age 43 from an abdominal anuerysm.4,5,6

Joseph Henry Chappell's obituary appeared in the newspaper in The Progress-Index, Petersburg, Virginia, on 4 May 1972. It listed Virginia Dorothy Schubert, Willie Ambler Chappell Sr., Ocie Dillard Poole, George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr., Gene Poole Chappell, Glenn Wright Chappell and Margaret Marie Chappell as surviving him. She was listed as Mrs. Margaret Gatling, his sister, of Hampton.7

Joseph Henry Chappell's obituary read:
Joseph H. Chappell – Joseph Henry Chappell, 43, of Rt. 2, Box 149-T-22, Petersburg, died Wednesday night at Petersburg General Hospital.

A native of Sussex County, he attended Highland United Methodist Church, Colonial Heights, and was a member of Namoi Lodge 30 Knights of Pythias, Petersburg. He was an employee of The Progress-Index as a printer for eight years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruth Schubert Chappell, Petersburg; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie A. Chappell Sr., Jarratt; four brothers, George R. Chappell, Dinwiddie, Willie A. Chappell Jr., Ashland, Gene G. and Glenn W. Chappell, both of Jarratt and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Gatling, Hampton.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Concord United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, from 7 to 9 tonight

In June 1989,Margaret Marie Chappell lived at 617 Fairland Avenue, Hampton, Virginia.

Her husband, James R. Topping, died before 2005.

Margaret Marie Chappell Topping died on 24 February 2005 at Virginia at age 84. Margaret was survived by her children, Rebecca Lynn Gatling, Donald Wayne Topping.2,1

On 26 February 2005, Margaret's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Newport News, Virginia. It listed Rebecca Lynn Gatling as surviving her.10

On 27 February 2005, Margaret's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Newport News, Virginia. The obituary listed James R. Topping as preceding her in death. Margaret Marie Chappell Topping, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. A native of Jarratt, Va., she had been a Hampton resident for the last 50 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church, downtown.

Marge graduated from Ferrum College and The College of William and Mary. She operated the first special education classes out of the basement of First United Methodist Church. She became a special educator at the ARC of the Peninsula, the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center. Instead of retiring, her devotion to special needs citizens caused her to remain with the ARC as a social worker with the Infant/Parent Education Center. Marge was a leader among advocates for the rights of special needs children and adults, she was the Director of Camp Parkitan and ran Camp Rainbow. She was always very active in the Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, James R. "Pete" Topping, survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Gatling; her son, Donald "Donnie Boy" Topping; her brother-in-law, Harold Topping; three brothers, George R. Chappell, Willie A. "Bill" Chappell Jr. and Gene P. Chappell. She will also be greatly missed by seven nieces, Carol, Deborah, Karen, Lisa, Lydia, Mary and Paula; two nephews, David and Jamie; and three grandchildren, Kristi, Frank and Brianna.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. L. Stanley Wright Jr. and the Rev. William R. Kyle Jr. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, after which, everyone is invited to join the family for a reception in the church fellowship hall.

George Randolph Chappell was born on 26 November 1922.1 He was the son of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. and Ocie Dillard Poole.

George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr. and Joseph Henry Chappell appeared in the 1930 census as a son of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. in Belfield, Greensville County, Virginia, on 21 April 1930. He was listed as George R. Chappell, age 7, born in Virginia, attending school ; Willie A. Chappell (Sr), age 32, born in Virgina. He was 22 when he first married. His occupation was farmer, general farming.2

George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr., Gene Poole Chappell and Glenn Wright Chappell appeared in the 1940 census as a son of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 7 May 1940. George Randolph Chappell married Virginia Dorothy Schubert, daughter of Charles Schubert and Lydia Erberg, on 5 March 1947 at Petersburg, Virginia. He was 24 at the time.4

When he was 55, his wife, Virginia Dorothy Schubert Chappell, died on 20 October 1978 at Jarratt, Sussex County, Virginia, at age 51 instantly from a massive head injury due to an auto accident.9,10

His wife, Virginia Dorothy Schubert Chappell, was buried after 20 October 1978 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.10

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lucille Archer Chappell; daughters, Lydia Chappell Williams and husband, George, and Mary Chappell Williams and husband, Gene; stepdaughter, Gloria Archer Tereschenko; stepson, David Archer and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Angela Williams Crets and husband, Thomas, Matthew Randolph Chappell and wife, Sarah, Amanda Archer and Brian Archer; and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr. and wife, June, and Gene Chappell and wife, Alice Faye.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Concord United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at church 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruth Schubert Chappell, Petersburg; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie A. Chappell Sr., Jarratt; four brothers, George R. Chappell, Dinwiddie, Willie A. Chappell Jr., Ashland, Gene G. and Glenn W. Chappell, both of Jarratt and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Gatling, Hampton.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Concord United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, from 7 to 9 tonight

Margaret Marie Chappell's obituary appeared in the newspaper in Newport News, Virginia, on 27 February 2005. It listed Rebecca Lynn Gatling, Donald Wayne Topping, George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr. and Gene Poole Chappell as surviving her. He was listed as her brother, Willie A. "Bill" Chappell Jr.11

Margaret Marie Chappell's obituary read:
Margaret Marie Chappell Topping, 84, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. A native of Jarratt, Va., she had been a Hampton resident for the last 50 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church, downtown.

Marge graduated from Ferrum College and The College of William and Mary. She operated the first special education classes out of the basement of First United Methodist Church. She became a special educator at the ARC of the Peninsula, the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center. Instead of retiring, her devotion to special needs citizens caused her to remain with the ARC as a social worker with the Infant/Parent Education Center. Marge was a leader among advocates for the rights of special needs children and adults, she was the Director of Camp Parkitan and ran Camp Rainbow. She was always very active in the Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, James R. "Pete" Topping, survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Gatling; her son, Donald "Donnie Boy" Topping; her brother-in-law, Harold Topping; three brothers, George R. Chappell, Willie A. "Bill" Chappell Jr. and Gene P. Chappell. She will also be greatly missed by seven nieces, Carol, Deborah, Karen, Lisa, Lydia, Mary and Paula; two nephews, David and Jamie; and three grandchildren, Kristi, Frank and Brianna.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. L. Stanley Wright Jr. and the Rev. William R. Kyle Jr. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, after which, everyone is invited to join the family for a reception in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to The Rebecca Lynn Gatling Trust, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23669.

George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr. and Joseph Henry Chappell appeared in the 1930 census as a son of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. in Belfield, Greensville County, Virginia, on 21 April 1930. He was listed as Joseph H. Chappell, age 1 and eleven months, born in Virginia ; Willie A. Chappell (Sr), age 32, born in Virgina. He was 22 when he first married. Joseph Henry Chappell was listed as a grandson of Joseph Henry Poole on the 1940 Census at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 6 May 1940. He was listed as Joseph H. Chappell, age 12, single, attending school. He had completed grade 5; Joseph H. Poole, age 67, widowed, farmer. He owned his home valued at $1,500. He lived on a farm.4

His Social Security Number was 229-50-3042 issued 1956 at Virginia.5

Alice Louise Chappell Poole held a reunion on 5 August 1962 at Old Hickory, Sussex County, Virginia, and he attended.6

Shelton Turner Rideout appeared in the 1900 census as a son of John J Rideout in Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia, on 5 June 1900. He was listed as Shelton T Ridout, age 3, born Aug 1896 in Virginia ; Jno J Ridout, age 42, married, born Apr 1858 in Virginia. He had been married 18 years. His occupation was farmer.2

Shelton Turner Rideout married Grace Louise Bolster, daughter of Amos Duane Bolster and Alice Fredonia Mitchell, before June 1918.6

Alice Fredonia Mitchell was born on 24 June 1881 at Virginia.1,2,3 She was the daughter of William H. Mitchell and Dora J Mitchell.

Alice Fredonia Mitchell married Amos Duane Bolster, son of Amos Bolster and Charlot A (?), in 1897. based on years of marriage in the 1910 census and the 1930 census state she was 15 when she married.2,3 Her married name was Alice Fredonia Mitchell Bolster. Alice Fredonia Mitchell also went by the name of Lady Mitchell.4

Her father, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900; as his wife was listed as widowed on the 1900 census.

Alice Fredonia Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as the wife of Amos Duane Bolster Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia, 6 June 1900. She was listed as Alice F Bolster, age 18, married 3 years, born Jun 1882 in Virginia, She had had no children; Duane Bolster, age 25, married 3 years, born Sep 1874 in New York. Dorothy Chappell was born in 1920 at Virginia.1 She is the daughter of Thomas Edward Chappell and Sadie Marie Morton.

Dorothy Chappell appeared in the 1930 census as a daughter of Thomas Edward Chappell 617 South Church Street, Florence, Florence County, South Carolina, on 11 April 1930. She was listed as Dorothy Chappell, age 10, born in Virginia, attending school; Thomas Chappell, age 28, born in Virginia. He was 18 when he first married. His occupation was manager of a wholesale bakery.1

John Robert Chappell Sr left no will on 14 May 1942 at Sussex County, Virginia, but John Robert Chappell Jr, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, Otho William Chappell, Mabel Eudora Chappell, Alice Louise Chappell, Amos Thornton Chappell, Dorothy Chappell, Thomas E. Chappell and Louis Malcolm Chappell was part of the settling of his estate. She was listed as Dorothy Chappell, granddaughter, age 23, of Richmond, Virginia.2 The probate document read as follows:

A deed was recorded on 20 June 1945 between John Robert Chappell Jr, Mary Horry Eppes, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, Otho William Chappell, Clair Louise Poole Chappell, Amos Thornton Chappell, Eloile I Taylor Chappell, Thomas Edward Chappell, Dorothy Chappell and Byron Linson Holsombach of the first part, Mabel Eudora Chappell of the second part, and Alice Louise Chappell Pooleof the third part. Mabel received 75 acres, and Alice recieved 137 acres. This was the same property converyed to John R Chappell Sr by Nannie P Chappell by deed recorded 12 Dec 1912, Deed Book 21, page 533 and plat of James Fields, Surveyor, in Plat Book 1, page 58 in Sussex County, Virginia. This deed was recorded 25 Sep 1945. The plat can be found in Plat Book 6, page 66.3

Dorothy Chappell married (Male) Bowan. Her married name was Dorothy Chappell Bowan. Dorothy Chappell and (Male) Bowan were divorced. Her married name was Dorothy Chappell Holsombach.

Dorothy Chappell married Byron Linson Holsombach.

Her husband, Byron Linson Holsombach, was buried after 9 October 1974 in Garden Sanctuary Cemetery at 7950 131st Street, Seminole, Pinellas County, Florida.4

Linda Dorothy Chappell married Buster Lee Powers on 3 September 1966 at Eau Gallie, Brevard County, Florida. She was 19 at the time. Her married name was Linda Dorothy Chappell Powers.

When she was 31, her father, Irvin Duane Chappell Sr, died on 16 January 1979 at Palatka, Putnam County, Florida, at age 64; of cancer of the brain.1

Her mother, Arline Dorothy Johnson Chappell, died in October 1983 at age 63.2

Her husband, Buster Lee Powers, died in 1999 at Florida.

Linda Dorothy Chappell Powers died on 1 July 2008 at Florida at age 60.

Mary Louise Luhrs was born in 1908. She was the daughter of Charles F Luhrs and Mary Adelaide Harris.2

Mary Louise Luhrs married Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, son of John Robert Chappell Sr and Emroy Temperance Mitchell. Her married name was Mary Louise Luhrs Chappell.

Her husband, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, died on 7 June 1955 at Florence, Florence County, South Carollina, at age 51 at 2:32 am after a three-day illness. He had been in declining health for the previous two years.3

Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr's obituary appeared in the newspaper on 8 June 1955. It listed Mary Louise Luhrs, Mary Elizabeth Chappell, Clifford Burnice Chappell Jr, Mabel Eudora Chappell, Alice Louise Chappell, John Robert Chappell Jr, Otho William Chappell and Amos Thornton Chappell as surviving him. She was listed as Mrs. C. B. Chappell of Florence his widow, who is the former Miss Mary Louise Luhrs.

Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr's obituary read:
C. B. Chappell - Clifford Burnice Chappell, 51, of Douglass Street Extension, Florence, died 2:32 am Tuesday in a local hospital after a critical illness of three days. He had been in declining health for the past two years.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Thursday in the Waters Funeral Home by Dr. E. E. Colvin, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, and the Rev William Howard, pastor of Five Points Baptist Church. Burial will be in in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Chappell, a resident of Florence for 30 years, was born June 24, 1904, in Jarratt, Va., a son of the late John Robert and Emma Mitchell Chappell both of Jarratt, VA. He was employed as a messenger for the Railway Express Agency for 1 years and for several years was employed as salesman for the American Bakeries.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church; a Mason and member of Hampton Lodge 204 A.FM; the Daughters Of America and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks. Freight Handlers, and Express and Station Employees. He was a graduate of Jarratt High School of Jarratt, Va.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. C. B. Chappell, of Florence, who is the former Miss Mary Louise Luhrs; one daughter, Mrs. William B. Finklea, of Florence; one son, Clifford B. Chappell Jr. of Florence; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Poole, of Jarratt,Va., and Mrs. Mell Powell of Danville, Va; three brothers, John R. Chappell of Richmond, Va., Otho Chappell, of Jarratt, Va., and Thornton Chappell, of Arlington, Va., and two grandsons.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ernest allen, W. A. McClellan, Aubrey Turner, Cecil M. Camlin, Edwin K. turner, and Frank Hunter.

Her husband, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, was buried on 9 June 1955 in Mount Hope Cemetery at 100 Cherokee Rd, Florence, Florence County, South Carolina, aged 51.4

Alice Louise Chappell Poole held a reunion on 5 August 1962 at Old Hickory, Sussex County, Virginia, and she attended.5

Mary Louise Luhrs died on 21 April 1998 at Florence, Florence County, South Carolina.

Mary Elizabeth Chappell was born on 16 October 1928. She was the daughter of Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr and Mary Louise Luhrs.

Mary Elizabeth Chappell married William Bragdon Finklea. Her married name was Mary Elizabeth Chappell Finklea.

When she was 26, her father, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, died on 7 June 1955 at Florence, Florence County, South Carollina, at age 51; at 2:32 am after a three-day illness. He had been in declining health for the previous two years.1

When she was 48, her husband, William Bragdon Finklea, died on 28 October 1976 at Florence, Florence County, South Carolina.3

Mary Elizabeth Chappell Finklea died on 22 October 2009 at Florence, Florence County, South Carolina, at age 81.4 She was buried after 22 October 2009 in Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 100 Cherokee Rd, Florence, Florence County, South Carolina.5
