Elisabeth H Meyers, Henry Harrison Lindamood, Mary Lindamood, Polybuis E. Lindamood, Dorothy Ellen Lindamood and Mary Meyers appeared in the 1860 census on 22 September 1860 as a household member living with Isaac Lindamood at Hamburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1860. She was listed as Elizabeth Lindamood, age 37, born in Virginia.1

Elisabeth H Meyers, Mary (?), Polybuis E. Lindamood, Dorothy Ellen Lindamood and Sarah Catherine Lindamood appeared in the 1870 census on 15 July 1870 as a household member living with Isaac Lindamood at Madison, Shenandoah County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1870. She was listed as Elizabeth Lindamood, age 47, born in Virginia. Her occupation was housekeeper.2

Elisabeth H Meyers appeared in the 1880 census as the wife of Isaac Lindamood on 8 June 1880 at Madison, Shenandoah County, Virginia. She was listed as Elizabeth Lindamood, age 57, born in Virginia, keeping house, could not read or write.3

Elisabeth H Meyers died on 29 February 1888 at Shenandoah County, Virginia, at age 65. She was buried after 29 February 1888 in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hamburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia.4 Elisabeth H Meyers Lindamood witnessed the burial of Isaac Lindamood after 24 December 1890 at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hamburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia.5

Margaret Ann Mills was born on 7 June 1914 at Hampton, Virginia.1,2

Margaret Ann Mills married Casper E Eppes Sr, son of Temple Carter Eppes and Maude G (?).1 Her married name was Margaret Ann Mills Eppes.1

Her husband, Casper E Eppes Sr, died on 26 July 1972 at Suffolk, Virginia, at age 60.

Margaret Ann Mills died on 8 January 2004 at age 89. Margaret was survived by her children Norma Eppes, Gayle Eppes and Gene Eppes.1,2

On 9 January 2004, Margaret's obituary appeared in the newspaper. The obituary listed Casper E Eppes Sr as preceding her in death. It listed Norma Eppes, Gayle Eppes and Gene Eppes as surviving her.1

Margaret's obituary read:
Margaret Ann Mills Eppes, 89, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004. Born in Hampton, Margaret was the widow of Casper E. Eppes Sr., who was a retired engineer for the Underwater Explosives Research Division of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a retired bank teller with American National Bank with 20 years of service. She was a member of Baylake United Methodist Church.

Margaret is survived by two daughters, Norma DeFoor of Virginia Beach and Gayle Archebelle of Norfolk; one son, Gene Eppes of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

Abraham Green Mitchell was born in 1812 at Virginia or 1807.3 He was the son of Abraham Mitchell and Rebecca Hawthorne.1,2 Abraham Green Mitchell was also known as Henry Green Mitchell I don't know where this variant of his name came from, but it may have been word of mouth.

His father, Abraham Mitchell, died in 1834 at Dinwiddie County, Virginia.1 Susan H. (?), Rebecca A. Chappell, Mary E. Chappell, John Thomas A. Chappell and Abraham Green Mitchell was involved in probating of the estate of John W. Chappell in November 1839 at Sussex County, Virginia. He was named the guardian of the infant children of John W. Chappell.4

Abraham Green Mitchell married Eveline S A Jarrett before 1844 at Virginia. based on her age in the 1870 census.5

Abraham Green Mitchell was listed as a guardian of the minor children in the deed recorded 3 December 1846 at Sussex County, Virginia, from Susan H Chappell to John Thomas A. Chappell, Rebecca A. Chappell and Richard J Tucker. He was the guardian of John Thomas A. Chappell, Rebecca A. Chappell and Richard J Tucker, children of John W. Chappell, deceased.6 The deed read as follows:
Suit brought in Sussex County Chancery Court, Nov. Term 1839 between the plantiff Susan H. Chappell widow of John W Chappell in her own right and as administratrix of the said John W. Chappell decd, plantiff against Rebecca A (or S) P. Mary E. and John T. A. Chappell infant children of John W. Chappell deceased by A. G. Mitchell their Guardian at litem appointed by the Court to defend them in this behalf defendants.

The Court appointed Abraham G. Mitchell Guardian ad litem specially to defend the infant defendants. William C. Pace, Joseph, Jarrad, Edwin G Scott, William B. Jarrad, and Micajah Ellis were appointed Commissioners, any three of whom may act, on some convenient day to be appointed by the parties, meet at the late residence of John W. Chappell deceased accompanied by the County Surveyor and value and divide the lands of which said decedent died owning so that they allot one-third part to Susan H. Chappell widow, in right of her dower, and the same with the slaves.

The slaves were valued at $2650, Susan was allotted $883.33 1/3 by Joseph Jarrad, William Pace and W B Jarrad.

Abraham Green Mitchell appeared in the 1850 census as the head of household, free population schedule at Dinwiddie County, Virginia, on 17 August 1850. Also living in the house was Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell, Emmett Mitchell, Dora J Mitchell, Edgar Mitchell, Purline Mitchell, John W. Mitchell and Martha A (?). He was listed as Abram. G Mitchell, age 38, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $1,800.8 Abraham Green Mitchell and Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell of Dinwiddie County, Virginia transferred a deed of property dated 4 March 1852 to Susan H. (?) of Sussex County, Virginia, containing 402.5 acres of land in Sussex County, Virginia, for $7,898. It was recorded 4 Mar 1852.9 The deed read as follows:
This deed on 8th day of March 1851 from Abram. G. Mitchell and
Eveline S. A. Mitchell his wife of the County of Dinwiddie

To: Susan Chappell of the county of Sussex for $898 paid by Susan Chappell for 402.5 acres (more or less) in Sussex County bounded as follows:

"On the North by the lands of Edward A. Wyatt, on the East by the lands of Stephen P Pool, on the South by the lands of Charles E. Coghill, On the West by the lands of said Coghill.

Abraham Green Mitchell appeared in the 1860 census as the head of household, free population schedule on 26 July 1860 Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Also living in the house was Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell, Emmett Mitchell, Emma Mitchell, Viola Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell. Dora J Mitchell and William Mitchell was listed as a neighbor. He was listed as Abraham G Mitchell, age 48, born in Virginia, farmer. His real estate was valued at $7,000; his personal property, $17,914.10

On 27 July 1860, Abraham Green Mitchell appeared in the 1860 census as a neighbor of William Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia.11

Abraham Green Mitchell was listed as the head of household on the 1870 census on 4 August 1870 at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Also living in the house was Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell, Emma Mitchell, Viola Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell. William H. Mitchell was listed as a neighbor. He was listed as Abram. G Mitchell, age 58, farmer, born in Virginia. His real estate was valued at $2,700; his personal property, $600.5

On 4 August 1870, Abraham Green Mitchell appeared in the 1870 census as a neighbor of William H. Mitchell Dinwiddie County, Virginia.12

Abraham Green Mitchell died before 1880 as his wife was listed as widowed on the 1880 census. Abraham was survived by his wife, Emaline S. A. Jarrett Mitchell.

Alice Fredonia Mitchell was born in 1882 at Virginia or 1884 based on being 26 in the 1910 Census. She was 48 in 1930.
Also she was married at 15. so 1882 makes more sense.1,2 She was the daughter of William H. Mitchell and Dora J Mitchell.

Alice Fredonia Mitchell married Amos Duane Bolster, son of Amos Bolster and Charlot A (?), in 1897. based on years of marriage in the 1910 census and the 1930 census state she was 15 when she married.1,2 Her married name was Alice Fredonia Mitchell Bolster. Alice Fredonia Mitchell also went by the name of Lady Mitchell.3

Her father, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900.

Alice Fredonia Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as the wife of Amos Duane Bolster Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia, 6 June 1900. She was listed as Alice F Bolster, age 18, married 3 years, born Jun 1882 in Virginia, She had had no children.4

Lucy Minor Dillard, Martha Ann Mitchell, Green S Mitchell, Rosabelle E Mitchell, William H. Mitchell, John J Mitchell, Laura F Mitchell, Benjamin Franklin Mitchell and Mary L Mitchell appeared in the 1850 census on 16 August 1850 as a household member living with William Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. He was listed as Franklin Mitchell, age 3, born in Virginia.4

Lucy Minor Dillard Mitchell, Rosabelle E Mitchell, William H. Mitchell, John J Mitchell, Laura F Mitchell, Benjamin Franklin Mitchell and Mary L Mitchell appeared in the 1860 census on 27 July 1860 as a household member living with William Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. On 26 July 1860, Dora J Mitchell and William Mitchell appeared in the 1860 Census as a neighbor of Abraham Green Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. She was listed as Dora J Mitchell, age 14, attending school.2

Dora J Mitchell married William H. Mitchell, son of William Mitchell and Lucy Minor Dillard, before 4 August 1870. Her married name was Dora J Mitchell Mitchell.

Emroy Temperance Mitchell married John Robert Chappell Sr, son of John Thomas A. Chappell and Susan Bolling Stewart, on 13 February 1896 at Concord United Methodist Church, 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, 23882, 36.893531,-77.571008. Places of birth and residence: Sussex County. Occupation of husband: Farmer. Minister: C. W. Turner, at Concord Church.5 Her married name was Emroy Temperance Mitchell Chappell.

Her son, John Thomas Chappell, died in 1897.

Her father, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900.

She was listed as Emma R Mitchell [should be Chappell], age 24, born Feb 1876 in Virginia. She had been married 4 years. She had had 2 children, with 1 still living.6

Emroy Temperance Mitchell appeared in the 1910 census as the wife of John Robert Chappell Sr on 11 May 1910 in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Emma R Chappell, age 32, married 14 years. She was listed as having had six children, with five still living.3

Her son, Hinton Chappell, died in 1915 at Virginia.7

Emroy Temperance Mitchell appeared in the 1920 census as the wife of John Robert Chappell Sr on 9 March 1920 in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Emma Chapel, age 44, married.1

John Robert Chappell Sr and Emroy Temperance Mitchell was listed as the parent of John Robert Chappell Jr when he married Mary Horry Eppes on 2 February 1924 at 206-A North Shepard Street, Richmond, Virginia. She was listed as Emma Roy Chappell.8

Emroy Temperance Mitchell appeared in the 1930 census as the wife of John Robert Chappell Sr Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 15 April 1930. She was listed as Emma R Chappell, age 54, married 21 years.9

Emroy Temperance Mitchell Chappell died on 4 April 1940 at Sussex County, Virginia, at age 64. Emroy was survived by her children John Robert Chappell Jr, Thomas Edward Chappell, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, Mabel Eudora Chappell, Alice Louise Chappell, Otho William Chappell and Amos Thornton Chappell.10 Emroy Temperance Mitchell Chappell was buried after 4 April 1940 in Chappell-Poole-Stewart Family Farm Cemetery, located at 4117 Stewart Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. The burial place is assumed based on family traditions. There is no headstone.

Emroy Temperance Mitchell appeared in the 1940 census as the wife of John Robert Chappell Sr at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 7 May 1940. She was listed as Emma Chappel, age 59, married, born in Virginia. She had completed 7th grade.11

Her husband, John Robert Chappell Sr, was buried on 15 January 1942 in Chappell-Poole-Stewart Family Farm Cemetery at 4117 Stewart Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, aged 68.12,13

She was listed in the obituary of Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr on 8 June 1955 as preceding him in death. She was listed as . She was listed as Emma Mitchell Chappell, his mother.

Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr's obituary read:
C. B. Chappell - Clifford Burnice Chappell, 51, of Douglass Street Extension, Florence, died 2:32 am Tuesday in a local hospital after a critical illness of three days. He had been in declining health for the past two years.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Thursday in the Waters Funeral Home by Dr. E. E. Colvin, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, and the Rev William Howard, pastor of Five Points Baptist Church. Burial will be in in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Chappell, a resident of Florence for 30 years, was born June 24, 1904, in Jarratt, Va., a son of the late John Robert and Emma Mitchell Chappell both of Jarratt, VA. He was employed as a messenger for the Railway Express Agency for 1 years and for several years was employed as salesman for the American Bakeries.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church; a Mason and member of Hampton Lodge 204 A.FM; the Daughters Of America and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks. Freight Handlers, and Express and Station Employees. He was a graduate of Jarratt High School of Jarratt, Va.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. C. B. Chappell, of Florence, who is the former Miss Mary Louise Luhrs; one daughter, Mrs. William B. Finklea, of Florence; one son, Clifford B. Chappell Jr. of Florence; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Poole, of Jarratt,Va., and Mrs. Mell Powell of Danville, Va; three brothers, John R. Chappell of Richmond, Va., Otho Chappell, of Jarratt, Va., and Thornton Chappell, of Arlington, Va., and two grandsons.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ernest allen, W. A. McClellan, Aubrey Turner, Cecil M. Camlin, Edwin K. turner, and Frank Hunter.

Mitchell, John J Mitchell, Laura F Mitchell, Benjamin Franklin Mitchell and Mary L Mitchell appeared in the 1850 census on 16 August 1850 as a household member living with William Mitchell at Dinwiddie County, Virginia. The official date for this census was 01 June 1850. He was listed as Green S Mitchell, age 13, attending school.1

However, I have taken his birthdate from his World War 1 Draft application.1 He was the son of William H. Mitchell and Dora J Mitchell. James Edward Mitchell was also known as Jimmy Mitchell.

His father, William H. Mitchell, died before 1900 as his wife was listed as widowed on the 1900 census.

William Green Mitchell and James Edward Mitchell appeared in the 1900 census as a son of Dora J Mitchell in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 16 June 1900. He was listed as James E Mitchell, age 12, born March 1888 in Virginia, attending school.2

James Edward Mitchell married Blanche Kitchen.

James Edward Mitchell appeared in the 1910 census as a brother of William Green Mitchell on 6 May 1910 in Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia. He was listed as James Mitchell, age 24, single, born in Virginia. His occupation was farm laborer on the home farm.3
