Clara Louise Poole married John Maxie Wray, son of John W Wray and Sally (?), in 1920.5 Her married name was Clair Louise Poole Wray.

Clara Louise Poole and Sabelle Poole appeared in the 1930 census as a daughter of David Wesley Poole Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 16 April 1930. She was listed as Clara Ray, age 27, [looks like] widowed, born in Virginia.6

Clara Louise Poole married Otho William Chappell, son of John Robert Chappell Sr and Emroy Temperance Mitchell, on 19 January 1936 at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was 32 at the time. Her married name was Clair Louise Poole Chappell. Clara Louise Poole was also known as Stingy Chappell.

Clair Louise Poole Chappell appeared in the 1940 census as the wife of Otho William Chappell at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 22 April 1940. She was listed as Clara Chappell, age 37, married, born in Virginia. She had completed 1 year of college.7

A deed was recorded on 20 June 1945 between John Robert Chappell Jr, Mary Horry Eppes, Clifford Burnice Chappell Sr, Otho William Chappell, Clair Louise Poole Chappell, Amos Thornton Chappell, Eloile I Taylor Chappell, Thomas Edward Chappell, Dorothy Chappell and Byron Linson Holsombach of the first part, Mabel Eudora Chappell of the second part, and Alice Louise Chappell Pooleof the third part. Mabel received 75 acres, and Alice recieved 137 acres. This was the same property converyed to John R Chappell Sr by Nannie P Chappell by deed recorded 12 Dec 1912, Deed Book 21, page 533 and plat of James Fields, Surveyor, in Plat Book 1, page 58 in Sussex County, Virginia. This deed was recorded 25 Sep 1945. The plat can be found in Plat Book 6, page 66.8

Alice Louise Chappell Poole held a reunion on 5 August 1962 at Old Hickory, Sussex County, Virginia, and she attended.9

Clair Louise Poole Chappell died on 3 October 1984 at Jarratt, Greensville County, Virginia, at age 81. Clair was survived by her husband, Otho William Chappell, and her children, William Kenneth Chappell, Mary Estelle Wray Humphreys, Kenny Wray.10,2 She was buried after 3 October 1984 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.2

Her husband, Otho William Chappell, was buried after 17 May 2001 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.11

David Wesley Poole married Ella Francis Talley, daughter of (Male) Talley and India (?), in 1887.2,4

Frances Emroy Poole was born on 28 September 1935.1 She was the daughter of Arthur Rebble Poole Sr and Alice Louise Chappell.

Frances Emroy Poole was listed as a granddaughter of John Robert Chappell Sr on the 1940 Census at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 7 May 1940. She was listed as Francis Poole, age 4, born in Virginia.2

Frances Emroy Poole married Harold Hobart Holloway on 25 December 1954. She was 19 at the time. Her married name was Frances Emroy Poole Holloway.

Alice Louise Chappell Poole held a reunion on 5 August 1962 at Old Hickory, Sussex County, Virginia, and she attended.3 Frances Emroy Poole and Harold Hobart Holloway had no children.

She was listed in the obituary of Alice Louise Chappell on 22 January 2007 as preceding her in death at Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond, Virginia. She was listed as Francis Poole Purdy, her daughter.8

Alice Louise Chappell Poole's obituary read:
Poole - Alice Chappell Poole, "Granny", 98, widow of Arthur R. Poole, Sr., died Saturday, January 20, 2007. Survivors include one son, A.R. ""Billy" Poole, Jr, and wife Betty; one daughter, Alice Faye Chappell and husband, Gene; five grandchildren, Beverly Morris, and husband Eddie, Lisa Gettier, and husband Stacy, Carolyn Poole Messier, Paula Seward and husband, David; five great-grandchildren and her beloved pet dog, P.D. Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Poole Purdy and a grandson, Robert Poole. The funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Concord United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will meet friends at a reception in the church social hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Poole's memory to Concord United Methodist Church

Katie B Poole and Ocie Dillard Poole appeared in the 1910 census as a daughter of Joseph Henry Poole on 10 May 1910 in Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was listed as Ocie D Pool, age 5, born in Virginia.1

Ocie Dillard Poole married Willie Ambler Chappell Sr., son of John Thomas A. Chappell and Susan Bolling Stewart, on 10 January 1920. She was 15 at the time. Her married name was Ocie Dillard Poole Chappell.

Ocie Dillard Poole appeared in the 1930 census as the wife of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. Belfield, Greensville County, Virginia, on 21 April 1930. She was listed as Ocie Chappell, age 25, born in Virginia. She was 15 when she first married.3

Ocie Dillard Poole Chappell appeared in the 1940 census as the wife of Willie Ambler Chappell Sr. at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 7 May 1940. She was listed as Ocie Chappel, age 35, married, born in Virginia. She had completed 2 years of high school.4

Her son, Joseph Henry Chappell, died on 3 May 1972 at Petersburg General Hospital, Petersburg, Virginia, at age 43 from an abdominal anuerysm.5,6,7

Joseph Henry Chappell's obituary appeared in the newspaper in The Progress-Index, Petersburg, Virginia, on 4 May 1972. It listed Dorothy Ruth Schubert, Willie Ambler Chappell Sr., Ocie Dillard Poole, George Randolph Chappell, Willie Ambler Chappell Jr., Gene Poole Chappell, Glenn Wright Chappell and Margaret Marie Chappell as surviving him. She was listed as Mrs. Willie A Chappell Sr, his mother.8

Joseph Henry Chappell's obituary read:
Joseph H. Chappell – Joseph Henry Chappell, 43, of Rt. 2, Box 149-T-22, Petersburg, died Wednesday night at Petersburg General Hospital.

A native of Sussex County, he attended Highland United Methodist Church, Colonial Heights, and was a member of Namoi Lodge 30 Knights of Pythias, Petersburg. He was an employee of The Progress-Index as a printer for eight years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruth Schubert Chappell, Petersburg; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie A. Chappell Sr., Jarratt; four brothers, George R. Chappell, Dinwiddie, Willie A. Chappell Jr., Ashland, Gene G. and Glenn W. Chappell, both of Jarratt and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Gatling, Hampton.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Concord United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, from 7 to 9 tonight

Ocie Dillard Poole died on 21 October 1980 at Virginia at age 76.9,2 She was buried after 21 October 1980 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.2

Her husband, Willie Ambler Chappell Sr., was buried after 18 March 1983 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.10

Robert Wayne Poole was born on 26 July 1960.1 He was the son of Arthur Rebble Poole Jr. and Betty Martha Samford. Robert Wayne Poole and Karla Jo Grizzard were friends before 1982.

A family picture was taken in August 1982 at Chappell-Poole-Stewart Family Farm Cemetery, 4117 Stewart Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, 23867, 36.884924,-77.554078, with the following people: Betty Martha Samford Poole, Robert Wayne Poole, Beverly Ann Poole, Carolyn Francis Poole and Paula Jean Chappell.2

Robert Wayne Poole died on 5 January 2005 at Jarratt, Greensville County, Virginia, at age 44. He was buried on 7 January 2005 in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 16703 Walkers Mill Road, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, aged 44.1

He was listed in the obituary of Alice Louise Chappell on 22 January 2007 as preceding her in death at Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond, Virginia. He was listed as Robert Poole, her grandson.3

Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Poole Purdy and a grandson, Robert Poole. The funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Concord United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will meet friends at a reception in the church social hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Poole's memory to Concord United Methodist Church

Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow registered for the World War 1 Draft in 1918 while living at Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia. His nearest relative was his wife, Frances Llewellyn Ribble. He was listed as Thomas Garrett Pretlow, age 39, born 26 March 1879, physician.2

Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow appeared in the 1920 census as the head of household on 7 February 1920 at Chesterfield County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Frances Llewellyn Ribble Pretlow. He was listed as Thomas G Pretlow, age 40, married, born in Virginia, physician.3

His wife, Frances Llewellyn Ribble Pretlow, died before 1930 because Thomas was listed with another wife and step children in the 1930 census.4

Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 24 April 1930 at Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia. Also living in the house was. He was listed as Thomas G Pretlow, age 51. He was 29 when he first married. He owned his home valued at $8,000. He lived with his wife, Ester B, his son, 3 daughters, and a step-son and step-daughter. His occupation was medical doctor.4

Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow registered for the World War 2 Draft on 27 April 1942 while living in P O Box 202, Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia. He was listed as He was described as white, 5 feet 10 inches, 170 pounds, with a ruddy complexion, brown eyes, and grey hair.1

Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow died on 8 July 1945 at Chester, Chesterfield County, Virginia, at age 66.5

On 9 July 1945, Thomas's obituary appeared in the newspaper.5

Thomas's obituary read:
Prominent State Physician Dies

Petersburg, VA - Dr. Thomas Garrett Pretlow, 66, Chesterfield County coroner and a prominent physician in the county for many years, died in his home in Chester Sunday morning. He had been in ill health for about two months.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday in St. John's Episcopal Church, Chester with the Rev. Leigh Ribble, rector of Grace and Holy Trinity Churches, Richmond, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Richmond.

Dr. Pretlow graduated in medicine from University College, Richmond. In 1903, he practiced in that city until 1910 and then moved to Chester.
