He was listed as Thomas Crowder, age 45, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was farmer.3

On 5 June 1900, Waverly J Crowder, Thomas J Crowder and John J Rideout appeared in the 1900 census as a neighbor of James Edward Carraway in Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia; J. Herman Daniel married Viola Kelly, daughter of A B Kelly and Viola Mitchell, in 1916.1

Herman Daniel appeared in the 1920 census as a son-in-law of Viola Mitchell Kelly on 16 February 1920 in Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia. He was listed as Herman Daniel, age 28, born in Virginia. His occupation was farmer, general farming ; Viola Kelly, age 63, widowed, born in Virginia.1

Herman Daniel appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 14 April 1930 at Sapony, Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Viola Kelly Daniel, his son, Herman Daniel and William Daniel, his daughter, Ruth Daniel, Eva G Daniel and Hilda M Daniel, his mother-in-law, Viola Mitchell Kelly, his nephew, Calvin Vickerson, his neice, Katherine Vickerson, his sister-in-law, Pattie Kelly Vickerson. William Green Mitchell was listed as a neighbor. He was listed as Herman Daniel, age 39, married, born in Virginia. He was 28 when he first married. His occupation was farmer, general farming.2

Herman Daniel died in 1954 at Virginia.
