Daniel Huger was born on 1 April 1651 at Loudun, Turenne, France, also in my records.2 He was the son of Jean Huger and Anne Rufin.1

Daniel Huger married Margaret Peridriau in May 1677 at Rochelle, France. also in my records.2

Daniel Huger died on 24 December 1711 at Wambaw Plantation, Santee, Orangeburg County, South Carolina, at age 60 also in my records.2

Research Notes: The following info comes from a paper describing the first generations of the Huger family in SC.

Contributed by Dr. Wm. H. Huger

I, Daniel Huger, born in America, in the Province of SC, have translated from the French written by my fathers own hand,an account of his ancestors, his birth and marriage, and mine, as follows:

(Constance, I am not going to copy this account in its entirety, just the important genealogical stuff.)

Apr.1st 1651 I was born in France, of Turenne and town of Loudun. I am son of John Huger, a Royal Notary in said Loudun and of Ann Rufin, my mother.

I was baptized in the Reformed Church in said Loudun, my Godparents were Daniel Huger, my grandfather, and Mary Rou, my grandmother. I was named Daniel. My father was son of Daniel Huger and of Mary Bichet. My mother was daughter of Anthony Rufin, merchant druggist; all living in said Loudun.

My mother died in Oct. 1661-62 and my father died Oct. 1667. My father had two brothers and two sisters. My mother had one brother and one sister.

In May of 1677, I was married, at Rochelle, with Margaret Perdriau, daughter of Orei Perdriau, merchant, and of Margaret Gourvin.

The 21st of Feb. 1678, my wife had her first child, Margaret. She was married to Mr. Elias Horry, of Paris. I do omit the births of ten children, died young, except Magdalen died at eighteen years, and lies buried at the French Church in Charleston.

Mar. 16 1688, at five oclock in the morning, her twelfth child, a son, was born in the Province of SC, in America, in Craven County, in St. James, Santee River, and was named Daniel.

Thursday, Aug. 17th, 1704. My daughter, Margaret Huger, was married to Mr. Elias Horry at Santee. My son Daniel Huger Jan. 25th, 1709-10 to Mrs. Elizabeth Gendron, daughter of Philip Gendron, Esqr. and Magdalen her mother.

From this point on, the account is written by Daniel Huger, son of Daniel the immigrant and translator of his father's account.

Now I, Daniel Huger, born the 17th day of Mar. 1688, as above written by my father, Daniel Huger, do further note that my father died on 24 Dec. 1711, and was buried at his plantation, Wambaw, Santee, Craven County. My mother, Margaret Huger died at my father-in-law's, Mr. Philip Gendron,at Santee, in the year 1717, and on the 23rd of May,1740, it pleased the Almighty God to call my dear wife, Elizabeth, from this world. She now lies buried in my orchard, at my plantation called Limerick, in St. Johns Parish, in SC. She was a pious Christian, a virtuous wife,a dutiful daughter. Amen.

(There is much more but that's what pertains to us.)
