Estelle Theresa Bendall was born on 20 July 1930 at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia. She was the daughter of James Richard Bendall Sr and Margaret Agnes Lindamood.

Estelle Theresa Bendall was listed as a granddaughter of Mary Marguerite Pedneau Lindamood on the 1940 Census at Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia, on 27 April 1940. She was listed as Estelle Bedall, age 9, born in Virginia, attending school. She had completed the 4th grade.1

Estelle Theresa Bendall married Daniel John Rauhe, son of James Frederick Rauhe and Elizabeth Bach. Her married name was Estelle Teresa "Bobbie" Bendall Rauhe. Estelle Theresa Bendall was also known as Bobbie Bendall Rauhe. At the time of his death in 1967, James Richard Bendall Sr was residing at 911 Maple St in Weldon, Halifax County, North Carolina. Also living there was Estelle Teresa "Bobbie" Bendall Rauhe.2

Her father, James Richard Bendall Sr, died on 2 December 1967 at Duke Hospital, Durham, Halifax County, North Carolina, at age 62. She was the informant on his death certificate.2 Estelle Theresa Bendall and Daniel John Rauhe were divorced on 20 November 1974 at Halifax County, North Carolina.

In 2002,Estelle Teresa "Bobbie" Bendall Rauhe and John Daniel Rauhe lived at 1018 Carolina Ave, Roanoke Rapids, Halifax County, North Carolina.

Research Notes: Estelle Teresa Pedneau, her great aunt after whom she was named, started calling her "little Bob" when she was a little girl because she was always with Bob Lindamood, her grandfather. The name "Bobby" stuck.


Estelle Teresa "Bobbie" Bendall Rauhe died on 31 July 2010 at Britthaven, Enfield, North Carolina, at age 80 in her sleep. She had suffered from dementia. Estelle was survived by her children, Cherri Anne Rauhe Mitchell, Donna Rauhe, John Daniel Rauhe, James Frederick Rauhe. She was buried on 3 August 2010 in Cedarwood Cemetery, aged 80.

James Richard Bendall Sr, Archer M Bendall, Robert Lee Bendall and Samuel F Bendall Jr appeared in the 1920 census as a son of Samuel F Bendall Sr on 8 January 1920 in Virginia Avenue, Emporia, Virginia. He was listed as James R. Bendall, age 15, born in Virginia, attending school.

James Richard Bendall Sr married Margaret Agnes Lindamood, daughter of Robert Lee Lindamood and Mary Marguerite Pedneau, in 1926.

James Richard Bendall Sr appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 15 April 1930 at Emporia, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Margaret Agnes Lindamood, his daughter, Margaret Anne Bendall. He was listed as James R. Bendall, age 24, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was printer in a newspaper office. He was 22 when he first married.4

His wife, Margaret Agnes Lindamood Carrol, was buried after 10 March 1956 in St Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia.5

James Richard Bendall Sr was a linotype operator - printer with the Roanoke News.3 At the time of his death in 1967, James Richard Bendall Sr was residing at 911 Maple St in Weldon, Halifax County, North Carolina.3

Also living in the house was his wife, Effie C Fuller, his son, James Richard Bendall Sr, Archer M Bendall, Robert Lee Bendall and Samuel F Bendall Jr, his daughter, Mary Louise Bendall and Hattie W Bendall. He was listed as Sam F. Bendall, age 39, married, born in Virginia. His occupation was engineer, log train.

Samuel F Bendall Sr appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 3 April 1930 at Emporia, Virginia. Also living in the house was his wife, Effie C Fuller Bendall, his son, Samuel F Bendall Jr and Edward Bendall, his daughter, Hattie W Bendall and Alice Bendall. He was listed as S. F. Pearl E. Bernard was born on 24 April 1884 at Virginia.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Oliver Bernard and Judith Elizabeth Ann Morgan.

Pearl E. Bernard married James Alton Walters, son of William Walters and Matilda (?), in 1905.2 Her married name was Pearl E Bernard Walters.

Pearl E. Bernard appeared in the 1910 census as the wife of James Alton Walters on 14 May 1910 in Tunstall, Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was listed as Pearl Walters, age 26, married once, married for 5 years. She was listed as having had 3 children, with 2 still living. She was born in Virginia, as were her parents.2

Pearl E. Bernard appeared in the 1920 census as the wife of James Alton Walters on 9 January 1920 in Danville, Virginia. She was listed as Pearl Walters, age 35, married, born in Virginia. Her occupation was dressmaker (the rest is unreadable). Her parents were born in Virginia.3

Pearl E. Bernard appeared in the 1930 census as the head of household on 11 April 1930 at 419 Cliff Street, Danville, Virginia. Also living in the house was. She was listed as Pearl Walters, age 45, widowed. She was 20 when she first married. Her occupation was cake wrapper at a wholesale bakery. She owned her home, worth $2,000.4

Pearl E. Bernard died on 25 November 1974 at Richmond, Virginia, at age 90. Pearl was survived by her children, Berkley Percy Walters.1
